Outdoor Artists Showcase
4th Annual OPEN AIR ARTIST SHOWCASE
The Yonkers Riverfest is the largest single festival in our city. The 24th Annual Yonkers Riverfest is family friendly, all-day music and arts event that is expected to attract well over 20,000 people. Yonkers Riverfest promises something for everyone – family music and entertainment, arts and crafts, children’s activities, environmental exhibits, international cuisine, and continuous live entertainment on 5 separate stages for all to enjoy.
Yonkers Artist Showcase One of the goals of Riverfest is to showcase local talent to tens of thousands of residents. In the past, we have focused on music, but a years ago we decided to create a special place for local artists to display their original art. We utilize the newly created Van der Donck Park specifically as an Open-Air Artist Showcase. As per City regulations, this area is for the display of art, and not the sale of art or other items. The result was a wonderful opportunity for local artist to share their work with thousands of visitors (with soft, live music playing in the background)
Van der Donck Park is the result of “day-lighting” the Saw Mill River in downtown Yonkers. Through this project a beautiful new park was created, highlighted by the river literally running through it. We plan to provide space for artists to display their work, provide appropriate live music throughout the area and promote this area throughout the entire Riverfest. Unlike events that just focus on art, the Riverfest crowd represents a tremendous variety of people of different cultures, ages, and interest. It would be a wonderful for local artists to share their talent with a larger audience. The BID will provide a table and two chairs at no cost.
